The Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire has hosted a top delegation from China Media Group (CMG) Africa, in a bid to establish a media partnership.
Speaking through an interpreter, Acting Bureau Chief, China Media Group (CMG) Africa, Song Jianing said China Media Group, also known as Voice of China, is the predominant state media company by means of radio and television broadcasting in the People’s Republic of China.
She said the cooperation will also feature people to people network between the two media institutions, training facilities, exchange programmes and other opportunities.
Song Jianing said: “CMG was founded on 21st March 2018 as a fusion of all state-holding media enterprises including China Central Television, China National Radio and China Radio International.
“China Media Group is under the direct control of the Propaganda Department of the Chinese Communist Party and that it is the predominant state media company by means of radio and television broadcasting in the People’s Republic of China”.
She said congratulated AYV for the Company’s good work in the media landscape, adding that their visit to AYV is to seek cooperation between CMG and AYV in several ways including exchange of news contents.
Responding, Executive Secretary of AYV Media Empire, Ivan Gbondo said the AYV is a digital multimedia entity with three Television channels (AYV DStv Channel 399, News Channel 33 and Entertainment Channel 34) a single radio frequency (101.7) that transmits nationwide in Sierra Leone, a nationally circulated newspaper – AYV Newspaper and a Printing Press.
Ivan went on that AYV engages in all forms of media and public relations activities ranging from News broadcasts to advertisements, to production and to public relations consultancies and primarily broadcasts from 3 Wesley Street in Freetown and from studios in the four regions of Sierra Leone, the US (Washington D. C) and in London.
Ivan Gbondo said: “Globally, AYV programming airs through Multi TV free to-air box (SES – our satellite host), which can be seen by viewers in over 212 countries and territories with a viewership of over 180 million. ITV and Satcon also host AYV on satellite.
“We stream LIVE 24-hrs on the Internet on www.ayvnews.com all our shows on both television channels and radio and the newspaper publishes information in real-time 24-hrs round the clock. AYV’s social media handles come in handy – Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. We simulcast on our social media handles (Facebook and YouTube) 24/7.
“As of December 2022, AYV has 3.2 million television households as viewers in Sierra Leone. It covers over 80% of Sierra Leone terrestrially and nationwide digitally (online).
“A recently conducted BBC survey named AYV Media Empire as the Best and most watched and Listened – To Media platform in Sierra Leone. AYV Media Empire is a proud recipient of the 2016 Chamber of Commerce Award as best commercial institution and also a proud recipient of the All Walks of Life (AWOL) Best Media House of the Year 2018 and 2019 respectively.
“In terms of our conversional TV, AYV TV is ever present in Bo, Kenema, Kono, Makeni, Waterloo, Goderich and Freetown with both Channels 33/34 in Bo, Makeni, and Freetown. In that case I will say AYV is been watched in over 3-4 Million viewers in Sierra Leone”.
Ivan assured the CMG delegation of AYV’s cooperation and looks forward to a strong and continued partnership.
The visit was climaxed with a tour of AYV studios and facilities.
