The Government of Sierra Leone has taken steps toward addressing congestion within its central administrative hub, as Dr. Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh led a delegation of ministers on an inspection tour of potential sites for new government office towers.
The tour, conducted earlier today, covered the YouyiBuilding and nearby New England Ville campuses, which are being considered for the development of modern office infrastructure to accommodate various government ministries and agencies.
The initiative follows directives from President Julius Maada Bio aimed at decongesting the Youyi Building and improving coordination across government institutions. Authorities say bringing scattered offices into centralized, purpose-built facilities will enhance efficiency and streamline public service delivery.
Officials noted that the move forms part of the government’s broader development agenda, particularly efforts to modernise public administration and improve access to services for citizens. By consolidating ministries and departments, the proposed office towers are expected to reduce operational delays, improve inter-agency collaboration, and create a more conducive working environment for public servants.
Observers say the planned development could significantly transform the functioning of government institutions in Sierra Leone, easing pressure on existing infrastructure while aligning with ongoing reforms to strengthen governance and institutional effectiveness.
