Mr. Holm says the team is now working on the design stage and will work in close collaboration with the technical team of the ministry in addressing the housing problem at the Motemmeh community in evacuating people currently living wherein the land slide had occurred together with delicate communities in disaster prone areas.

Responding, Works and Public Assets Minister Raymond De’ Souza George lauded the team for their timely intervention for the implementation of this project, which he described as a blessing to this nation, especially for these prone communities.

He called upon the team in helping the ministry setting up a National Master Register that would help in data collection of all government owned buildings and properties.

Minister George commented on the last terrible disaster at Motemmeh, adding that this nation became unrest as so many uncounted souls perished during that disaster.

In her contribution, Deputy Minister of Works and Public Assets, Melrose Kargbo also told the team to help in addressing the garbage problem in Freetown as this was one of the factor which has led to the last disaster, pointing out that the current cleaning exercise organized by the New Direction has helped greatly to reduce the filth from some of these drainages.

She says government and the ministry will continue to give their total support for the implementation of this project that will give face-lift to Freetown.
