A high-powered delegation from the Ministry of Works and Public Assets, along with members from the Parliamentary Works Committee have conducted an inspection of brand new machinery shipped by Maripoma for the construction of the Gbetema Mattru Jong road.

Minister of Works and Public Assets, Dr. Denis Sandy said the purpose of their visit to the port was to inspect the machines intended for the construction of the Gbetema Mattru Jong road. He emphasised that this particular project is his main focus as the Minister of Works and Public Assets, and he assured that the road will be fixed within the shortest possible time.

Deputy Minister of Works and Public Assets, Madam Christiana Queen Fofanah, expressed her delight in seeing the high-quality machinery provided by Maripoma. She believed that the construction of the road had already commenced, and she emphasized that this road project aligns with the President’s agenda for infrastructural development.

Honourable Sattie Kargbo, a member of the Parliamentary Works Committee, expressed his admiration for Maripoma’s action plans for the Gbetema Mattru Jong road, which have been successfully implemented. He highlighted the significance of this road to President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and assured that the Parliamentary Works Committee would oversee the project from start to finish, aiming for its completion by mid-next year.

Honourable Mohamed T Fofanah from Kambia thanked the Minister and his deputy for their commitment to the speedy completion of the road. He mentioned that the committee had previously visited the site and witnessed the progress made by Maripoma in completing a percentage of the road work.

He assured the people of Sierra Leone that the Gbetema Mattru Jong road would be completed as soon as possible, as all the necessary machinery is now available. He emphasized the road’s significance to the President, as it leads to his hometown. He also pledged the support of the Members of Parliament in complementing the efforts of Minister Dr. Denis Sandy.

The Engineer from Maripoma, Mr. Sam, expressed their belief in delivering quality work, as they possess the capability and capacity to construct durable and sustainable roads. He promised that they would complete the project within the designated time frame.

Minister Dr. Denis Sandy concluded by stating that the inspection tour was just the beginning, and the next step would be to facilitate the process of clearing the machinery from the port and transporting it directly to the campsite in Gbetema and Mattru Jong.
