At long last, residents of the Central Mosque community, ZimmiMakpele old town section, felt a sense of relief after benefiting from a safe water facility provided by Nabeela Tunis.

Mrs. Tunis, wife of Rt. Honorable Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis of Constituency 101, being cognizant of the importance of safe and readily available water to public health regardless of its use, made the donation following an appeal made to her by the community in December of 2020. It can be recalled that the community dwellers had alarmed over the lack of safe water for drinking and other purposes, which evidently posed serious threats to their health and wellbeing.

Turning over the facility on behalf of Mrs. Tunis, the Chairman of the SLPP in Makpele Chiefdom, Mr. Hassan Jalloh, emphasized that the community has the right to sufficient, continuous, and safe water, while expressing its importance for personal and domestic purposes. He noted that contaminated water and poor sanitation are linked to transmission of diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, and typhoid and that it was out of concern for the safety and health of the community that the project was undertaken in the District, which is being honourably represented Dr. Tunis.

Residents of the community thanked Mrs. Nabeela Tunis for the gesture, whilst recounting her numerous contributions to Constituency 101. They expressed great relief that Madam Tunis had put an end to one of the pressing challenges they are confronted with.
