Twelve out of the fourteen political parties contesting the 2023 elections in Sierra Leone have condemned attacks on the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (EC-SL).

A joint statement signed by the political parties reads that they condemn the persistent attacks on the Chairman, Commissioners and staff of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (EC-SL) by some politicians and social media activists.

The statement read: “We are satisfied with the disaggregated data issued to political parties by the EC-SL. We called on multi-lateral partners and civil society organisations to be moral guarantors of peace and denounce any call or form of illegal protest”.

In the end of the statement, the political parties spoke on the need to keep to their date as stipulated in the EC-SL campaign calendar in the conduct of their campaigns.
