Thirty-One Sierra Leoneans repatriated from Senegal to Sierra Leone are now being reintegrated in their various communities in Sierra Leone by the IOM after undergoing trainings.

It can be recalled that on September 1, 2021, the Sierra Leoneans duped online for jobs in Senegal were repatriated from Senegal by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to Sierra Leone in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Embassy in Senegal.

These Sierra Leoneans were said to have been recruited with some Guineans by agents in Sierra Leone and in Guinea, and were said to have paid about $1,000 each to work in Senegal.

The jobs range from welding, construction, agriculture, security, to electrician paying from 400,000cfa ($800), 300,000cfa ($600) to 250,000cfa ($500) per week.

Abdul Karim Kamara, one of the victims and their coordinator over the weekend informed the Sierra Leone Embassy in Senegal about their re-integration and the package in business given to them. He said they were reintegrated with each selected business item worth Fourteen Million Twenty Thousand Leones each.

He expressed appreciation to the Ambassador and staff of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Senegal for their diligent service in rescuing them during their predicament. He also thanked the IOM for restoring their hope once more.
