Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Court No.1 at Ross Road Magistrate Court in Freetown has sent on remand one Hawa Moinina, aged 35, to the Female Correctional Centre in Freetown.

According to the police, Hawa was arrested in the east of Freetown with 27 wraps of illegal narcotic drug, Kush.

The first police witness, Sergeant Salamatu S. Kamara of the Operations Department of Ross Road Police Station said she and other police officers were tipped by commercial bike rider that Moinina was dealing Kush around the Up Gun area in the east of Freetown.

The Police witness said she and her team left for Jenner Wright Road where they met the accused sitting in an old zinc shack. Sergeant Kamara said they met Moinina arranging dried leaves which they suspected to be Kush on a plate before wrapping them on pieces of paper.

She said the accused was arrested was over NLe1,500.

During cross-examination by Defense Lawyer, Sydney Campbell, the prosecution witness said Moinina was arrested at around 1 in the morning. She said two unidentified men were also close to alleged crime scene but couldn’t arrest them as they were some distance away from the shack.

The Sergeant told the Magistrate that there were other dry leaves but couldn’t identify all of them. The 35-year-old was remanded until the 28th August when she will make her second appearance in court.
