According to the particulars of the offence, the two accused persons on Sunday 12th February 2016 screened a movie at the Valentino Hall in Bo which police considered to be a dangerous material having the potential to ignite tribal war and carnage in the country, contrary to Section (32) sub Section (3) of the Public Order Act of 1965 of the laws of Sierra Leone.

In her plea of mitigation on behalf of the accused persons, Sheku Ngauja and Alpha Sibbie, lawyer E.S. Banya informed the well-attended court that, her clients offended the law of the land out of mere ignorance.

She pointed out that, Sierra Leone presently lacks a censorship regulatory board to censor movies and musical albums of actors and actresses including artists, and that her clients did not have any intention to provoke war and carnage in the country.

Lawyer Banya said the very fact that the accused persons have confessed and pleaded guilty to the offence show that, they were not conscious of the consequence of their actions and deeds.

She however pleaded with Magistrate Binneh Kamara to tamper justice with mercy as her Clients have assured her that they will never engage or publicize such dangerous movie content in the country.

In his ruling, Magistrate Binneh Kamara said the movie content is very sensitive and he was adjourning the matter to March 17, 2016 for records and judgment on the accused persons.
