Addressing participants, The Director of Environmental Health and Sanitation, Ministry of Health and Sanitation Dr. Ansumana Sillah said that the framework of the Environmental and Social Management project comprises four main projects which includes, the health system, strengthening Expended Sanitary Inspection Compliance Monitoring Enforcement (ESICOME), community Health workers training which is a key, and being implemented under the Directorate of Primary HealthCare.

He said the community health workers project is to complement the Ministry of Health and Sanitation staff record which is going to be implemented at community level.

He spoke about the Emergency Medical Services project which he described as the National Ambulance Service that would be taken from different perspective.

The Head of Public Health Superintendents, Madam Christian Monica Fortune in her presentation highlighted the objective of the project which she said aimed at ensuring that adverse Environmental and Social impact are avoided.

She reiterated that the key principle of the project is to prevent and mitigate any harm to the environment and the people, pointing out that such is done by in cooperating other Environmental and Social concern of the people.

 

Commenting on why the waste management project was included in the document, she said waste management in hospitals are concerns to the World Bank’s support to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation involvement in all management issues in the hospitals.
