According to the particulars of offence, the accused on Saturday, 20 February, 2016 murdered the deceased at the No.2 River.

In his testimony, Detective Sergeant 18098 John Mumuneh Kusenpei-Kamara, attached to the Criminal Investigation Department at Adonkia Police Station, told the court that he was on duty on the day of the incident when he received information about the alleged murder incident.

He said a team of detectives, headed by the Local Unit Commander, went to the scene and later returned to the station with the accused person.

Sergeant Kusenpei-Kamara stated that the murder matter against the accused person was handed over to him for investigation, adding that he and DPC 10174 Bangura I.M. interrogated the accused on the same day and obtained statement from him.

The witness continues that on 26 February, 2016 he witnessed the postmortem examination at the Connaught Hospital mortuary, conducted by Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma, adding that a photocopy of the death certificate was handed over to him.

The photocopy was tendered as exhibit Z.

The witness added that on 9 March, 2016 the accused was charged with the offence of murder.

Magistrate Dr. Binneh-Kamara stated that the matter before the court is a preliminary investigation, which could be committed to the High Court for trial should he find that the accused has a case to answer.
