As one of the principal partners of ECOWAS in the implementation of regional security architecture, WANEP has made norm-setting conduit of influence in the cultivation of the culture of peace across West Africa –making the organization one of the most credible peace building network organisations in Africa.

The conference is held in collaboration with CSOs, the academic communities and traditional authorities in Sierra Leone

Giving the rationale for the conference, the National Network Coordinator of WANEP, Edward Jombla said it is to provide the platform for key stakeholders to discuss and brainstorm on the need for the creation of peace infrastructure in the country. He expressed hope that through advocacy, the legislative framework factored into the reviewed constitution of Sierra Leone.

One of the objectives, he said is to provide a forum to generate consensus on the nature and character of the peace infrastructure in light of the Sierra Leonean political history and current reality.

The conference is expected to provide the opportunity to lobby state actors to accept the ideals of national peace infrastructures and to collectively advocate for the inclusion of its normative principles into the reviewed constitution.
