President Koroma commended the Union for the successful Town Hall meeting organized during his visit to the Netherlands in April, 2014. Unfortunately he said, just after that meeting, the Ebola disease broke out and hindered most of the programmes discussed in Holland. He further commended the Union for their patriotism during the Ebola outbreak by providing food and clothing for their compatriots.

Meanwhile, the president also thanked the Union for their courage to build a school in Lungi which they reported of having spent over Fifty Thousand Euros to completing the project. He assured them of government’s support to the school through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and also assured to follow up on all the issues raised by the Union once they are geared towards development of the country.

Thanking the head of state for his rapid transformation of the country, the president of Sierra Leone Central Union – Holland branch, Mr. Abu Bakarr Bangura disclosed that his Union comprises everybody irrespective of belongings and that their central focus is to bring development back home. He highlighted certain undertakings by the Union which included sending home over fifty-thousand solar lights, over 150 bags of rice and the construction of a school in Lungi as humanitarian aid to the people. In his presentation, he mentioned a programme known as Temporary Return of Qualified Nationals (TRQN) in Holland upon which he requested for a letter from government to include Sierra Leone in the programme to enjoy its facilities. Also included in his request was the need to have a diaspora policy that will cover all diaspora activities across the globe.

The presentation of a Certificate of Merit to President Koroma for his outstanding performance in the ongoing transformation of the country, climaxed the meeting.
