Commissioning the new transformer, Engineer Foday Issa Kamara said the transformer at clay factory in the Grassfield community had been overloaded which resulted to low voltage supply that affect the quality of electricity supply to most household in that community.
.Engineer Kamara noted that EDSA is responsible for the supply of electricity in the country and saw the need to provide a new transformer for residents who were not part of the first transformer that they installed to avoid overloading as study show that one transformer could cause dangers.
He admonished residents of that community to protect and maintain the newly installed transformer as the transformer directly belong to them and not EDSA and admonished community members to desist from overusing the transformer which might caused low voltage thereby resulting in what he called “badlight” which would not be good operate electrical appliances.
Musa Sesay, a pupil, said the absent of electricity supply for the past two weeks affected his studies at night but believe the installation of the new transformer would definitely help him to in night.
Gibril Sesay, a tailor, expressed similar sentiment over the absent for the past two weeks which also affected his work.
Mr Sesay emphasized that due to the overload of work he had instances wherein he wanted to work at night to reduce the burden of work but could not because of the absence of electricity affirming that the commissioning of the new transformer will help boost his business and other businesses within the community.
.With the return of electricity to that part of the country , it is expected that residents whose businesses had been affected due to the absent of electricity, school going children will be able to enjoy the much needed electricity supply as promised under the agenda for prosperity.
