The war of words placed the Regional Vice Chairman at the neck of the Regional Chairman as the former accused the latter of gross insubordination and refusing to see each other eyeball to eyeball.

The Regional Chairman, according to the press release abandoned his office only to operate with a set of cabal against the party’s interest.

A couple of other allegations raised include what the release described as signing of illegal forms by the District Chairman to some constituency chairmen to carry out the consensus building process in secrete.

The release further cast aspersion on the loyalty of one Peter Williams, labeled as a friend of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) who was nominated to serve in the capacity.

It states: clause 20 of the rules and regulations gave the mandate to the district executive to nominate one district stakeholder to serve in the regional election complain committee (RECC).

In this case a cross section of the Eastern Region executives is not sure whether Peter Williams is a paid up member and his loyalty to the Sierra Leone People’s Party is being doubted.

In an earlier press release dated June 18, 2016, the Acting National Public Relations Officer, Lahai Lawrence Leema commended the peaceful outcome of the first leg of the party’s executive elections at Zonal and Sectional levels.

He acknowledged the fact that the process was not without few skirmishes but a stern warning was issued to an alleged Ali Essa Bangura led faction in constituency 052 in Port Loko district, which appeared to interfere with the process.

The media release stated among other things that Ali Essa Bangura allegedly pressurized the constituency executive into preparing a Secrete Executive List, contrary to the 2016 rules and regulations binding the conduct of the party’s primaries. Below are the two press releases.
