This is according to Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) presidential candidate Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio in his 2018 Manifesto dubbed ‘New Direction.’

It could be recalled that SLPP) presidential candidate Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio had once contested for the presidency but lost to incumbent president Ernest Bai Koroma. It could further be recalled that since 2007 when Ernest Bai Koroma gained political power in Sierra Leone, he made a lot of promises towards improving the education, agriculture, social and other sectors of the country including revamping the economy and elevating the standard of life of the ordinary citizen.

However, according to the National Grand Coalition (NGC) presidential candidate, Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, he believes that this country can better develop when people in top public offices pay tax. According to Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, when he is voted to power as president, he shall institute policies, rules and regulations that would see top public servants paying tax.

He added that in the area of industrial relations he would ensure that he empowers and protects women by expunging Labor laws that are obsolete and include laws governing individual employment relationships.

According to Dr. Yumkella, when he is elected, he would ensure that his NGC party strengthens macroeconomic stability as a foundation for broad-based and inclusive growth by pursuing a prudent fiscal policy, disciplined monetary and financial sector policies and robust external sector policy.

He further pledged to ensure that entrepreneurs and investors are supported with appropriate financial tools; reduce and eliminate wastage in the utilization of public resources to generate savings that shall be applied to enhance productive capacity and pay off the national debt.
