Another widow said that NaCSA has done the paper work to ensure the grant is paid but the Ministry of Finance is dragging its feet. ‘The Ministry of Finance should explain why it has taken over a year to pay the grant,’ she said.

The Executive Director of the Legal Aid Board, Ms. Fatmata Claire Carlton-Hanciles told the widows that legal action will be the resort in ensuring they receive what is due them. ‘First, we want NaCSA to do a letter to the Ministry of Finance to follow-up on the matter,’ she said, adding, ‘We will then follow-up with the Ministry of Finance.’

The women first lodged the complaint with the Legal Aid Board in the period leading to the March 2018 election. They were told to wait until a government is elected into office.
