The BBC is committed to broadcasting to and from Africa, bringing news and insights from Africa to audiences around the globe, according to Marina Forsythe, Business Development Associate, Sub-Saharan Africa, BBC World Service.

Africell is one of Sierra Leone’s leading telecommunications company with over 3 million subscribers. The partnership strengthens the profile of the company, according to Joe Abass Bangura, Corporate Affairs Manager, Africell .

The subsidiary of Africell, Africa Independent Radio is also part of the company. Its station manager John Konteh gives the relevance of the partnership with the BBC to his institution, AIRadio.

The objective of the service in the agrrement is to provide first hand sports and news on demand on the Africell network.
