STRAIGHT TALK= That APC Walkout Was Incorrigible!

“Be that as it may, other people see the APC MPs’ behavior last Thursday as a deliberate attempt to embarrass His Excellency and present the country to the international community as a place of political turmoil or worse! This is definitely a bad precedent these APC MPs could be presenting for this country, if at all it is found that their intention is anything but genuine.”

Two wrongs do not make one right. For the fact that the APC waited until President Julius Maada Bio was scheduled to make his speech at the State Opening of Parliament on 2nd May in the Well of Parliament, could be interpreted as a deliberate act on the part of the APC MPs to embarrass the president.

Another school of thought would argue that because President Julius Maada Bio is the Head of State on whose table the buck stops; he should take blame for everything and anything as far as it concerns the socio-economic welfare of the citizens of this country for whom he is president.

Be that as it may, other people see the APC MPs’ behavior last Thursday as a deliberate attempt to embarrass His Excellency and present the country to the international community as a place of political turmoil or worse! This is definitely a bad precedent these APC MPs could be presenting for this country, if at all it is found that their intention is anything but genuine.

Many people following this latest trend are of the opinion that even if the APC MPs had any bone to pick with the President, they could have done so in a more decent and acceptable manner rather than in the manner they virtually made themselves either laughing stocks or symbols of doom!

But then, are we to be surprised? No! It can be recalled that when the APC had their days at the House of Parliament, the SLPP then in opposition used walkouts in the same vein the APC is doing the same today. Need we be surprised that history is repeating itself all over again?

The only fear is that this walkout business whether coming from the SLPP or the APC is becoming incorrigible!
