According to the orders slammed by the adjudicating Judge, Hon. Mrs. Justice Bintu F. B. Alhadi, an interim injunction is in place pending the hearing and determination of the application filed to the High Court by the first Plaintiff, John Papa Koroma.
John Papa Koroma is the Commander Informal Sector and Chairman National Task Force and also member of the National Executive Council together with his co-Plaintiff, Mohamed K. Conteh who is also the Port Loko National District Chairman and member of the National Executive Council of the Motor Drivers’ Union; together, they filed the necessary affidavits.
The injunction stated that the Respondent/ Defendants are restrained from carrying out any activity whatsoever in respect of the Motor Drivers’ and General Transport Workers’ Union.
It is indicated in the court order that the Plaintiff/ Applicant John Papa Koroma is charged with the responsibility of disseminating the said High Court order to regions, districts, sub-districts, units, sub-units and branches nationwide.
The injunction also stated that the application filed by the first Applicant, John Papa Koroma and its supporting affidavits and its attachment (s) are served on the Respondent at least three days before the date fixed for the adjournment, and that the said application gives an undertaking to meet any expenditure as a result of the application, if the said application fails to succeed.
The High Court order also forbid the ex- Executive of the Motor Drivers and General Transport Workers’ Union headed by Alpha Amadu Bah as President from interfering with the Union funds and or receiving any payments on behalf of the union.
The adjudicating Judge ordered that all payments for and on behalf of the Union are to be made into the Judicial Sub-Treasury of the High Court at Law Court Building.
The injunction further indicated that all members, regions, districts, units, sub-units and branches of the union, organizations and authorities are duly notified, adding that it an offence for anyone to breach the court order and the consequences include but are not limited to imprisonment.
The said court order was officially addressed to heads of state institutions like, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Minister of Employment, Labor and Social Security, the Commissioner Anti-Corruption Commission, the Inspector General of Police, Sierra Leone Labor Congress, Zenith Bank at Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown, the Resident Minister Southern Province, the Interim Committee of the Motor Drivers and General Transport Workers’ Union among others.
The Plaintiff /Applicant were represented by A.D. Achatoh Esq. and Hon. Mrs. Justice Bintu F.B. Alhadi respectively and the matter was adjourned to Wednesday 22nd May this year.
