Nigerians Support School for the Blind

He made this statement during a presentation of cash, food and non-food items to the Milton Margai School for the Blind and suggested a change of name for the school. This support is part of Nigeria’s 59th independence Anniversary Celebration.

Milton Margai School for the Blind is the only school in the country that caters for the educational wellbeing of blind children. The president for Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO)- Abiodun Oyabola asked the principle of the school for change the name of the school e from blind school to person with impaired vision.

“When someone is blind, that is the need of their destiny but this is not the case for theses children. The blindness did not stop them to achieve their future in life,” he added.

The president also promised the school that NIDO will provide frees medical care service and enrollment opportunity for blind children when the organization would have completed its School and medical center project.

He Abiodun Oyebola stated that he is pleased with the effort of the school administration in taking care of the children noting that they are well taken care of.

The president also promised to support the school boarding home with mattresses adding that NIDO will always be part of the school and the school will also be part of NIDO.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the principal, Sallieu Turay said this is not the first time Nigerians are supporting the people of Sierra Leone. He went further to state that as long as Nigeria and Sierra Leone maintain diplomatic relations, Nigeria shall always stand by Sierra Leone, adding that Nigeria stood by Sierra Leone before, during and after the civil war perpetuated by the RUF.
