Inter-Community League has kicked-off on Sunday, 28th of August 2022 featuring a total of thirty-two communities, after fulfilling the NLe2,000 registration fee.
Philipson Cline-Cole, Chairman of the Central One Football Association (COFA) confirmed that the Competition is sponsored by President Julius Maada Bio together with the Gento Group of Company which he described as a blessing in disguise. The cash prize for the winner is Le50,000,000.
He said Premier League players are not restricted to participate in the competition, noting that the Competition is an off-season tournament organised for players to keep themselves busy and mentally fit ahead of the new Season.
He said it is also a moment the players show loyalty to their communities therefore as long as the player did not pen down his signature for two communities and even players playing professional football are allowed to play in the competition.
Summer City faced off Fourah Bay Community in the opening ceremony.
The 2022 COFA Inter-Community league marks the first edition since the demise of Pa Sama Sesay the former chairman who passed away two years ago.
