The Paulcare Development Initiative has completed a National Reading Competition for twenty-four primary school pupils drawn from fifteen primary schools across Freetown.

Executive Director of the Paulcare Development Initiative, Idrissa Paul Bangura said the Competition is aimed to encourage pupils to be active in reading, adding that the best 5 pupils will be taking part in an international reading competition slated to be held in Liberia.

Bangura said: “In addition to help promoting the free quality education in Sierra Leone, the initiative will help the government in achieving its goals in the education sector”.

He said the pupils thoroughly underwent 3 different stages of the Competition before the judges were able to identify the winners.

Georgiana Hilton, a pupil of the Connecting Destiny Nursery and Preparatory School won the Competition and receives 5 million leones as the winning price.
