The People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) Party has provisionally nominated Charles Francis Margai as Presidential Candidate for the 2023 elections.

Charles Margai has bounced back into the limelight with his nomination as the Presidential Candidate and this will be the fourth time that he is running for the presidency.

He ran and lost in 2007, in 2012, in 2018 and now again in 2023. Margai’s strategic endorsement of the APC in 2007 led to the APC Victory that year. In 2018, he also aligned himself with SLPP against the APC and the SLPP won those elections.

He was made SLPP Minister of Justice but then he got relieved of his duties by His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and he then went into political hibernation.

He has bounced back now and became the last presidential candidate to be nominated before the Electoral Commission closed its doors on receiving provisional nominations; a process which was opened on April 30th.

A total of 13 Presidential Candidates have been provisionally nominated from ADP, APC, CDP, NDA, NURP, PDP, PLP, PMDC, RUFP, RENIP, SLPP, UDM and UNPP.
