Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay has delivered ‘3 Power Generation Plants’ in Moyamba town in line with the Moyamba District Electrification Project.

This is in demonstration of President Dr Julius Maada Bio’s commitment to ending Moyamba town’s 40-year wait for electricity.

The New Direction administration, with funds exclusively provided by the Government of Serra Leone, had identified Moyamba town as one of those districts headquarter towns that would benefit from the Seven District Electrification Project.

The erection of poles, stringing of cables and provision of transformers had long been completed in Moyamba.

Kayamba Chiefdom Speaker, Adu Boyawa praised President Bio and the minister of energy for the fourteen renewable energy facilities in Moyamba district which he said had positively impacted social and economic lives.

While presenting the three thermal plants with a combined 3MW capacity, Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay, said Moyamba was always close to President Bio’s heart, adding that the township project as well as the fourteen mini grids and still counting, would place the district on an unprecedented and admirable energy pedestal in the country.

He informed the people that Moyamba town would have two sources of generation of power and assured that the project would soon be completed and commissioned to end the town’s 40-year wait for electricity.

Mr. Sesay implored stakeholders and residents to own the facilities and to make positive use of the electricity they were going to get.

Project Manager of the Seven Districts Township Electrification Project, Ing. Dr. Tarawally, gave an overview of the entire project.
