His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio has commissioned a 2-megawatt energy plant in Moyamba to provide sustainable electricity for residents within the district, while assuring them of more development supports in his second term in office.

The move is part of His Excellency’s rural electrification expansion agenda for Sierra Leone.

President Bio thanked his audience for supporting his administration’s aspirations during the last five years. He noted that Moyamba, a once neglected district, has been central to the New Direction’s developmental agenda.

He called on the district to vote massively for the SLPP for a first-round victory to continue his progressive agenda.

Highlighting his government’s interventions in the district, President Bio added that Moyamba has been a beneficiary of numerous development programmes, particularly the construction of the township roads and the road leading to Moyamba Junction, construction of the Mabang Bridge and the road leading to Songo; construction and rehabilitation of schools, construction of healthcare facilities and the provision of sustainable electricity.

His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio also commissioned a 2-megawatt power plant in Kailahun for the provision of 24 hours electricity in the township.

Since his assumption of power, President Bio has expanded access to electricity from 16% to a whopping 35%. Kailahun and Moyamba have also benefited from the government’s 7 districts water supply project.
