“Agreement for National Unity will be implemented…” Chief Minister Dr. Sengeh assures government’s commitment

Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has assured that everything inside the Agreement for National Unity will be implemented, adding that all 8 of the Resolutions are under implementation.

In similar issues, he revealed that a seven-man delegation will be heading to Washington DC to deepen the bilateral relationship between the Government of Sierra Leone and the United States of America, adding that the delegation will engage the US Congress and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Members of the delegation he said will comprise Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Foreign Minister Timothy Musa Kabba, Majority Leader in Parliament Matthew Nyuma, Civil Society Representative Abdul M. Fatoma, President of All Political Parties Association Prince Coker and CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Unit-Sierra Leone Ndeye Koroma.

The Chief Minister stated that the Feed Salone Project is on track and the focus is to ensure we reduce the importation of rice in the country, assuring that by next year 20% of rice for prison and police will be locally produced. That will continue until it reaches 100%.

Chief Minister talked about the World Bank’s $65 million direct budgetary support to help boost the economy and also highlighted several gains in the energy sector such as the MCC compact, Newton power generation, and the Western Area Power Generation Project.

He also disclosed that Sierra Leone will be hosting WAEC meetings. In March Sierra Leone will host International WAEC Summit. Sierra Leone will be the Chair of these WAEC meetings.

Chief Minister said the vision of the Government is to ensure the country achieves 100% 3G across the country. He explained that the 3G should be the minimum in the entire country. For example, if you are using 5G and later visited any village the least network you should connect to is 3G.
