Sierra Leone new Ombudsman, Tejan Ahmed Israel Jah, Esq. has assured of undertaking due diligence in the discharge of his sacred duties. He was speaking on Wednesday January 12th 2024 as he took his Oath of Office at State House. Earlier in December 2023, Members of Parliament, had determined his suitability to serve in the capacity of Ombudsman of the Republic of Sierra Leone.

Mr. Jah took the oath of office in the presence of His Excellency President Bio whilst assuring that “I will faithfully and truly discharge the duties of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Sierra Leone, and that I will support, uphold and maintain the Constitution of Sierra Leone as established”.

He thanked President Bio for appointing him, stating, “It’s a huge responsibility that I do not take very lightly. I am humbled as well that among the many Sierra Leoneans, I was considered fortunate for this appointment.

“His Excellency, as we are all aware, the office of the Ombudsman has huge responsibilities, including investigating complaints received from aggrieved persons working in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies and the investigation of such complaints and receiving other complaints from other persons”.

President Julius Maada Bio, while congratulating the Ombudsman, said he already knew the task ahead of him as Ombudsman, stating that he was expected to perform his duties diligently. He assured him that he could always count on him as the President.
