Share

In a bid to enhance Sierra Leone’s data collection capabilities, Statistics Sierra Leone, in collaboration with UNICEF, has initiated a week-long workshop at the New Brookfields Hotel.

The workshop, which is currently ongoing, aims to review the Multi Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) questionnaire and explore its potential in refining data tools.

The atmosphere at the hotel is vibrant, with statisticians, researchers, and experts from diverse disciplines, representing various stakeholder organizations, all convening to unravel the potential of refined data tools. Attendees were met with great enthusiasm as the workshop commenced this morning, January, 29, 2024.

The MICS questionnaire plays a vital role in gathering essential data on the well-being of children and women. It is undergoing a comprehensive review to align with the evolving dynamics of society. Experts in health, education, and social welfare are participating in intensive discussions to fine-tune the survey questions and reflect the current socio-economic landscape.

The week-long activity is expected not only to bolster Sierra Leone’s statistical capabilities but also to foster enduring partnerships beyond the workshop. As the workshop progresses, the New Brookfields Hotel resonates with the sounds of dialogue and the energy of a collective commitment to progress.

Stay tuned for more updates as the workshop progresses, shaping the future of data-driven decision-making in Sierra Leone.
