Sierra Leone is showcasing its agricultural investment potential at the Food and Agriculture Value Chain Forum in London, as the government intensifies efforts to attract private-sector financing to support the country’s agricultural transformation agenda.
Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Musa Kpaka, is using the international platform to promote investment opportunities under the government’s FeedSaloneinitiative, with 12 local businesses seeking a combined US$141 million to support activities across the agricultural value chain.
The investment drive is aimed at mobilising private capital to unlock the country’s agricultural potential, strengthen local agribusinesses, and expand opportunities across food production, processing, and related sectors.
The participation of Sierra Leone at the forum provides an opportunity to engage potential investors and highlight the business prospects available within the country’s agricultural sector.
Through FeedSalone, the government seeks to place agriculture at the centre of national development, with increased investment expected to support food production, create employment opportunities, and contribute to food security and economic growth.
The US$141 million financing requirement presented by the 12 local businesses underscores the scale of investment being sought to develop agricultural enterprises and strengthen the links between farmers, processors, markets, and investors.
As Sierra Leone continues to promote its agricultural opportunities internationally, attracting the required financing will be crucial to translating investment interest into tangible results for farmers, businesses, and the wider economy.
