Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has announced the official launch of the Sierra Leone Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) 2024–2030.
Described as a “strategic document designed to guide our revised New Direction development priorities,” the plan aims to shape the country’s trajectory over the next 5 to 7 years.
The unveiling ceremony of this citizen-centric public policy saw the participation of key stakeholders, including members of the Cabinet, Development Partners, Diplomatic Community, Parliamentarians, Business Leaders, Media, Civil Society Organizations, and NGOs.
President Bio emphasized that the new National Development Plan builds upon the achievements of its predecessor and is tailored to address emerging challenges while accelerating progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
“We are confident that this MTNDP will help push the bounds of our national development agenda and guide the implementation of our priorities to improve the quality of life of our people,” stated President Bio.
Expressing gratitude to Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Madam Kenyeh Barlay, for spearheading the plan’s development, President Bio extended appreciation to all individuals and organizations involved in crafting the blueprint.
This inclusive process involved representatives from government institutions, local councils, private sector, civil society, NGOs, persons with disabilities, women and youth groups, community and traditional leaders, trade unions, academia, and students.
President Bio concluded with a call for collective action, urging citizens to embody the spirit of activism in translating aspirations into tangible realities.
He emphasized the collective vision to build a Sierra Leone that symbolizes hope, progress, and prosperity for future generations.
