His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has extended a warm welcome to British-Sierra Leonean actor Idris Elba and a cadre of investors at his State House office in Freetown.

Accompanied by a notable group of investors, which included Zoisa North-Bond, CEO of Octopus Energy, and Tamar Pashtan, Head of ESG & Impact at Vital Capital, Elba’s presence symbolised a collaborative endeavor to explore unique investment opportunities within Sierra Leone.

President Bio, expressing appreciation for the visit of the esteemed entertainer, underscored the significant role played by Idris Elba as Sierra Leone’s Brand Ambassador.

The delegation’s primary agenda during their visit is to capitalize on the country’s distinctive investment prospects, with a particular focus on Renewable Energy, Agriculture, and the ongoing Sherbro Island City (SIC) project. The Sherbro Island City initiative aims to establish a world-class Afro-dynamic Eco-city for West Africa.

In discussing the delegation’s objectives, President Bio remarked, “The delegation is in Sierra Leone to leverage our nation’s unique investment offerings, including Renewable Energy and Agriculture, as well as the ongoing Sherbro Island City project – a Special Economic Zone designated to building a world-class Afro-dynamic Eco-city for West Africa.”

Idris Elba, renowned not only for his acting prowess but also for his commitment to philanthropy, has consistently lent his support to Sierra Leone’s economic development priorities.

President Bio affirmed the government’s steadfast commitment to collaborating with Elba and his team to promote Sierra Leone as a premier investment destination for discerning investors.

The visit represents a significant stride toward fostering partnerships that resonate with Sierra Leone’s economic development aspirations and showcases the country’s potential as an enticing hub for investment across diverse sectors.
