Chairman for the East End Lions Football Club, Amb. Anthony Navo Jr, has motivated and inspired the Club’s players, following their successful performance against Luawa FC past weekend.

Chairman Navo said: “We’ve come a long way from the relegation zone at the start of the league season and now we are among the top clubs on the log after our final game for the first round.

“We are back in the race proper, I’m elated with the performance and we will go to the drawing board to address other issues before the commencement of the second round. Let’s remain steadfast as the race is still on”.

Chairman Navo who returned to Sierra Leone a few days ago from England, was in attendance together with a cross-section of his executive members and extolled the players and technical team for the impressive performance against Luawa Amb. Anthony Navo Jr.

He further described the victory which has placed East End Lions FC in the 6th position with 24 points as a huge hope for the club to achieve its ambition of clinching the league title at the end of the season, despite the ten (10) points difference with the league leaders Bo Rangers and a game in-hand, stating:

Amb. Anthony Navo Jr also reaffirmed his executive commitment to transforming the Trade Centre Field into a state-of-the-art playing ground for the club, following the arrival of the artificial turf a few weeks ago, noting “By the grace of God, before the start of the second round we are going to give you a standard pitch,” he reiterated.

East End Lions F.C secured a convincing 2-0 win over Luawa FC in their final match for the first leg of the 2023/24 Leone Rock Premier League, on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Trade Centre Field in Freetown.

After a goalless outing in the first half, left-back Santigie Hassan Kargbo opened the scoring in the 55-minute with a sensational free-kick to put the host in front, later, the promising striker- Alie Danger Conteh, who came from the bench doubled his side’s lead to 2-0 in the 85th minute.

Sunday’s victory against Luawa FC helped East End Lions to record two consecutive wins for the first time in the ongoing campaign following another 2-0 home triumph during last Wednesday’s mid-week clash against Diamond Stars, as well as the fifth the club has registered out of seventeen matches played.
