Born on August 14, 2000, in Freetown, Amzartu Kadiatu Conteh is a 23-year-old Sierra Leonean beauty queen, pageant coach, model, activist, and student. She is currently enrolled at the College of Medicine and Allied Science, studying Nursing. Amzartu Kadiatu Conteh is competing in this year’s Miss University pageant, organized by Africa Young Voices Media Empire (AYV) in partnership with the National Union of Sierra Leone Students (NUSS). The pageant is scheduled to take place on December 1, 2023, at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
Amzartu Kadiatu Conteh completed her primary and secondary education at Freetown Teachers College and Victory Evangelic Ministry. She later transferred to Annie Walsh Memorial School, where she completed her senior secondary education.
Amzartu Kadiatu Conteh is the founder of the Center for Girls and Women Empowerment, dedicated to empowering women and girls in Sierra Leone. She is currently the reigning Miss COMAHS and is a member of the Coalition of Young CSO, where they advocate against drug abuse.
Amzartu Kadiatu Conteh platform is dedicated to ending early marriage. She was greatly inspired by her best friend who was a victim of early marriage and aims to be a voice for ending early marriage in Sierra Leone. She believes that early marriage greatly affects the growth of young girls in Sierra Leone and hopes to use her beauty and intelligence to send a message about ending early marriage.
Amzartu Kadiatu Conteh has been involved in pageantry since 2009. She competed in the Miss Sierra Leone pageant in 2019, where she won the Beauty with Purpose award. She also won the Miss COMAHS Beauty with Purpose award and was crowned Miss COMAHS 2023. In addition to her pageantry work, Amzartu Kadiatu Conteh supports young girls with scholarships.
The Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire and National Union of Sierra Leone Students (NUSS), have successfully completed intense auditions for Nine beautiful queens representing various universities countrywide at the Miss University 2023.
The show is set to be held on April, 26, 2024 at the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel in Freetown.
The search is on for the next AYV Miss University as Nine ladies auditioned from different universities across the country.
