Representing the Youth Commission, Mohamed Koroma said the inauguration ceremony symbolized a peaceful transition of governance and strengthen the country’s democratic principle. He said that youth should be considerate in society, especially when it comes to protecting and taking leadership roles.

Mohamed Koroma added “base organization has demonstrated that they are violent free organization and one that showcase the potentials of young people in their community and based on thorough background check, we learnt that the organization have undertaken several successful projects without any violence.”
The out gone chairman, Base Development Organisation, Abdulia Ellias called on Base members to support the newly elected chairman, adding that the success of the newly elected chairman means a success for the organization.

The newly elected chairman of the organization, Mohamed Sesay assured members of upholding the principles of what the organization stands for, he further promised to undertake and deliver meaningful projects, in order to continue the developmental pace of the organization.

Delivering the key note address, Deputy Minister of Lands Mamoud Tarawally mentioned that bulk of the population happened to be youth and that they need to step up if they intend to take over from the old generation. He reiterated that the successful outcome of the Base election set the pace for young people in the country to uphold and respect the principles of democracy, as he encouraged members of the organization to maintain the peaceful status quo in the organization.
