Sierra Leone’s Presidential Spokesman, Alpha Kanu, has told the inhabitants of Debia chiefdom, in the Karene district that a peaceful environment attracts investment, encourages entrepreneurship and boosts trade.

He was talking during a town hall meeting in Gbinti town in the Debia chiefdom, organised by the Office of the Presidential Spokesman, which aimed at cascading President Julius Maada Bio’s National Town Hall Meeting at regional and district levels.

The town hall meeting, attended by 13 paramount chiefs, traditional leaders, and government officials, highlighted President Bio’s priorities and the crucial role of peace and cohesion in national development.

Hon Alpha Khan emphasised the importance of peace, community progress, and economic prosperity, noting that peaceful environments attract investment, encourage entrepreneurship, and boost trade.

“I want to use this opportunity to announce that the next presidential elections are scheduled for 2028. You should not allow some ill-motivated politicians to stupefy you that the tripartite report recommended that there will be any other presidential election. Don’t fall for their lies,” he told his audience.

Other speakers emphasised the importance of national cohesion in fostering social harmony and improving citizens’ well-being. By promoting community stability, individuals can focus on personal and collective growth, leading to a stronger and more productive population.
