The Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, has called on non-state actors to include sports in their advocacy.
The NSA Boss made this appeal during the Authority’s FY 2025 budget presentation at the conference hall of the Ministry of Finance.
Dr. Abdulai said: “The sports sector is doing well. We engage young people in different sporting activities every day. Through this, we are reducing the crime rate and creating jobs. Over the years, CSOs and the NSA have monitored, advocated, and followed the activities of many MDA’s. Some even aligned their operations with certain MDA’s. This is good, and I’m calling on CSO’s to include sports in their activities. Sports is not only about entertainment; it is a multi-billion dollar industry. We can also use this sector for peace-building”.
Responding, Foday Dada, representing non-state actors, commended the Ministry of Sports and the NSA for their level of transparency and accountability.
“MOS and NSA have been transparent to the people of this country, especially in recent times. This is good for public trust and confidence,” Dada said.
On Dr. Abdulai’s call for sports advocacy, Dada and his team thanked the NSA Boss for the initiative. He said they would treat the matter with seriousness.
The National Sports Authority is an agency of Government established by an Act of Parliament with the mandate to promote, encourage, develop and supervise all sports and sporting activities and to provide for other related matters.
