Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh in his latest audio message to Sierra Leoneans, has explained about the over 20 companies and factories that have been established under the reign of President Julius Maada Bio.
According to the chief minister in his audio message No.41, from 2018 to 2024, about 20 companies and factories have been established under the purview of the first gentle man in the country, the latest of which is the steel factory, that will be producing iron rods for Sierra Leoneans.
These companies he stated include the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank and the Rokel Commercial Bank, two of the country’s indigenous banks,which the World Bank then advised us to sell.
But when President Bio came in as Head of State, he refused to sell these banks, but rather transformed them into a profit making Institutions, now making huge profits at the end of every year.
Dr. Sengeh went ahead and explained the number of companies and factories that have been established in Sierra Leone since 2018, not limited to African Beverages, Sierra Paint, Sierra Leone flour Mill, Arise IIP, SabCo, Sierra Light, Capitol food and lots more.
Dr. David Sengeh pointed out that more than half of the companies that have been established from 2018 to date, are on food production, which is also aligned, with the initiative of food sufficiency, the country is craving towards.
These agro processing, beverages and water companies, are not only being established, but the chief minister pointed out also that they’re also creating massive employment opportunity, whereby employing thousands of skilled and unskilled Sierra Leoneans to the benefit of millions of families at across the country.
For such to continue, Dr. David Sengeh said the country needs to be safe, for investors to come and invest in Sierra Leone through the private sector financing, and for this to happen, people need to believe in the government and its policies. “Therefore we’re creating the enabling environment as a government”, he averred.
Sierra Leone he said is currently laying the foundation, with all of its good policies and the establishment of these companies, noting that in the future, the commodities and goods that will be produced out of these factories will be very affordable to all and sundry, as the market will be highly competitive by then.
The chief minister underscored that all of these companies are currently being established in the country, mainly because of the good policies the government is implementing, as well as creating a very conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive.
He attributed these successes the country is currently experiencing especially in the area of incorporating factories and companies, mainly due to the traveling of President Bio.
Dr. David Sengeh said the President uses his oversea trips to lure investors into the country. “Most of the inventors coming to Sierra Leone and invest, are being convenience by President Bio during his travelling”, he stated.
Thus, he thanked President Bio and that of the line ministries that are putting the necessary efforts to transform Sierra Leone to the next level.
According to the Chief Minister, with good policies, strong security and good vision, nothing will stop us as a nation from thriving, which he added are the things that will help us going forward.
Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh ended up by saying, having a President that has such foresight in the person of President Bio, if he gets the necessary support from his people, nothing will stop us to prosper as a nation.
