According to her there has been significant improvement in the last 18 months especially in the transition from the Ebola pandemic, that almost crippled the country health sector to post Ebola recovery.

U. S. Ambassador to Sierra Leone, John Hoover said that the USAID funded advancing partners and communities with a 17 million dollars project implemented by the JSI Research and Training Institute to help create stronger, resilient systems in the health sector. He pledged the US commitment in supporting the government in rebuilding and strengthening the health care system.

The Minister of health and sanitation Dr. Abu Bakarr Fofanah thanked the development partners for the tremendous support especially in a time considered as crucial in the country.  He urged them to continue supporting the country especially in the health sector       .

A presentation on the overview of the recovery process was done by the Health Coordinator for the President’s recovery program. Testimonies from nurses and patients from different health facilities were made.

 President Koroma at the launch of the second phase of the president’s recovery priorities stated that his government will strengthen the health sector to prevent future epidemics, support the most vulnerable including over 4,000 Ebola survivors across the country and provide cash transfers to 47,000 families to help them out of poverty.

Sierra Leone launched the President’s recovery priorities in July 2015.  This was as a result of the worst impact by the Ebola epidemic in the country. Various areas such as health, education, Social Protection and Private Sector Development, Energy, Water and Governance were named as a priority in both first and second phases.
