Honourable Mohamed Bangura has expressed confidence that as a presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he is prepared to defeat candidates from the All People’s Congress (APC) Party and the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in the 2028 Presidential election in Sierra Leone.

Speaking to AYV exclusively last evening, Hon. Bangura confirmed his candidacy for the 2028 presidential elections in Sierra Leone under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Hon. Bangura’s decision follows his recent suspension from the APC, prompting him to leave the party ahead of its upcoming National Delegate Conference. He revealed that his move to the PDP was driven by personal aspirations and a strategic plan to secure the presidency before facing potential expulsion from the APC.

A seasoned politician, Hon. Bangura has previously been affiliated with the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) and was the founder of the United Democratic Movement (UDM) before ultimately joining the APC. Now, he is embarking on a new political journey with the PDP, positioning himself as a strong contender in the 2028 race.

Born on 7th December, 1971 in Karene district, Honourable Mohamed Bangura serves Minister of Information and Communication during the regime of the APC Party under the Ernest Bai Koroma led executive.

He has been a vocal person for the people of Karene district which led them to allow him to go for the position as Member of Parliament in Constituency 066, under the APC in the 2018 elections.

Though he faces so many challenges from his competitors he was able to defeat them and won the Parliamentary seat. His people believe in him and chose him to represent, legislate, and Scrutinise National Issues constructively on their behalf in the Sierra Leone Parliament.

As former Minister of information and with experiences in the information sector, the leadership appointed him as the deputy Chairman for the Information Committee in the House of Parliament. He is also a Member of the Labour and Social Security Committee.
