The former UNIDO boss said that since he left the United Nation and returned home to participate in national politics, he had gone through several challenges including threats on his personality and that of the personalities of his numerous supporters.

He further disclosed that he suspended his aspiration for the flagbearership position of the SLPP, due to the persistent threats against his supporters, adding that he entered into politics not to attack personalities but rather to constructively engage on issues of national concern. He stated that Sierra Leone politicians of late had focused on attacking his personality rather than engaging on issues pertinent to national discourse.

He pleaded with authorities especially politicians to focus on addressing national issues and also stop harassing his supporters.

Speaking on his recent public lecture at the Miatta Conference hall, Dr. Kandeh mentioned that after his twelve days tour outside the country, he decided to engage Sierra Leoneans on education through public lecture.

He said that after treating education, he would move on to health and then other key national issues that are affecting the country. He furthered that he was very much impressed with the turnout of students at his recently held public lecture.

“I will continue to engage the minds of young people in this country as that is what we need at the moment”. He added.

He explained that he was working with other senior politicians in the country including politicians from both the Sierra Leone Peoples Party and the ruling All People’s Congress Party and that very soon the country would be duly informed about the outcome of their consultation.

He affirmed that he would likely become the leader of the Grand Coalition. He ended by saying that the people of Sierra Leone need a change and that he was that change the Sierra Leoneans are waiting for.
