The new Minister of Energy, Cyril A. Grant, has challenged the management of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority, EDSA, to spare no efforts in turning the institution into a shining example of other institutions in the country, stressing that the utility is one of the best and biggest institutions in the country.

Mr. Grant was speaking at a maiden meeting with the management of the institution aimed at helping him successfully hit the ground running and provide a spring in his step as he set out to help President Bio realize his energy sovereignty aspirations for the country.

“EDSA happens to be the best and biggest institution and the backbone of the energy sector. I think I need to spend a lot more time with EDSA.

“I know there are more than capable, talented, and committed people at EDSA. I truly know you are all committed to making the Sierra Leone agenda on energy achievable,” he said.

Mr. Grant called for synergy and collaboration between and among sector players, adding that energy remains the cornerstone of the development strides of the government.

“His Excellency President Bio had stressed the critical importance of teamwork during my investiture. That was all the more the reason why I summoned the sector leads this morning. We cannot afford to fail,” the Minister noted.

He called on the management and staff of EDSA to work with a sense of purpose, imploring them to bend over backwards in surmounting challenges especially as we go into the new year and the  dry season.

The Minister allayed fears and misconceptions around the issue of privatization of EDSA, assuring all that the proposed reforms are not intended to impose hardship or inconveniences on anyone.

With the energy sector and the Feed Salone agenda being inextricably linked, reforms continue in the sector.
