Sierra Leone has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global South Utilities (GSU) of Abu Dhabi on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit in Dubai. The MoU outlines a partnership for GSU to conduct feasibility studies for investment and renewable energy projects of up to 500MW, aimed at supporting Sierra Leone’s energy transition efforts and powering key demand centres in mining, agriculture, and manufacturing.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by His Excellency, the President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
This partnership marks a significant step towards achieving Sierra Leone’s energy goals and promoting economic growth.
Collaboration with GSU is expected to leverage expertise and investment in the energy sector, enhancing energy access, reliability, and sustainability across the country. The projects will focus on innovative and renewable energy solutions, aligning with Sierra Leone’s commitment to a low-carbon future.
