According to the World Bank Country Manager, the funding would include grants, loans and grantees, and that his entity would also discuss with the government and subsequently identify priority areas for development which would include environmental protection, urban planning and improved land management.

He noted that his institution had donated the sum of thirteen million United State dollars and not five hundred million as recently stated in a press statement issued by State House Press team.

‘my institution has donated the sum of thirteen million dollars to the government of Sierra Leone, contrary to reports that the world bank donated the sum of five hundred million united state dollars towards the disaster response team and the sum of ten million united state dollars is part of budget support to the government of Sierra Leone,’ Paminder Brar stated.

He pointed out that some donors had already provided support to the government in the form of relief items and other supplies, but that very little donation was made to   government directly for dealing with the disaster, Guma valley Water Company to repair broken pipes, the Sierra Leone roads authority, to repair broken bridges.

As a result of this, the World Bank had offered government thirteen million united state dollars of which ten million united state dollars for budgetary support, and three million united state dollars would go   directly to government for immediate disaster response support.

He informed his audience that the World Bank on 15th August received a letter from the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development seeking support to respond to the landslide and flood emergency situation.
