The National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Jimmy Batilo Songa, has convened an extraordinary meeting with Regional, District, and Constituency Executives from the Western Area at the party’s headquarters, Unity House, as part of efforts to strengthen internal cohesion and political strategy.
The meeting, chaired by the party’s National Deputy Chairman, Kondema Robert Kargbo, brought together senior national officers and grassroots leaders to deliberate on party unity, mobilisation, and preparations ahead of future political engagements.
In his address, Mr. Kargbo urged party executives in the Western Area to rally behind the National Executive, emphasising the need for unity and coordinated action to consolidate the party’s position on the political landscape.
Also speaking, Western Area Regional Chairman, Manso Dumbuya, commended the leadership of the party under President Julius Maada Bio and the National Chairman, noting that the current administration has injected renewed energy into party activities. He called on members to sustain their support and remain committed to the party’s agenda.
District Chairmen, Members of Parliament, councillors, and other executives from across the 28 constituencies in the Western Area reaffirmed their loyalty to the party leadership, pledging continued support to both the President and the National Executive.
In his remarks, Chairman Songa expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support he received during the party’s National Convention. He urged executives to return to their constituencies to begin sensitisation on the introduction of a modern membership database, which he described as critical to strengthening party structures.
He further called on members to remain vigilant and responsive to party directives, while also encouraging unity and discipline within the ranks.
As part of the engagement, the Chairman presented a vehicle to support the leadership of SLPP councillors in the Freetown City Council and also facilitated financial support for executives to cover transportation costs. He additionally briefed members on upcoming party activities, including business opportunities and the planned SLPP @75 Dinner and Dance.
The meeting ended in a celebratory atmosphere, reflecting renewed commitment among party members to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and internal solidarity ahead of the next political cycle.
