One of Sierra Leone’s prominent business establishments, Jeety Trading Company, has paid a solidarity visit to the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) following a fire outbreak that severely damaged parts of its facilities, including the office of Deputy Director General Mohamed Asmieu Bah.
The visit was led by the Chief Executive Officer of Jeety Trading Company, Mohinder Bir Singh, popularly known as Pa Jeety, who expressed deep sympathy over the incident and assessed the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
Speaking during the visit, Pa Jeety described the incident as unfortunate and encouraged management and staff of SLBC to remain resilient, expressing hope that recovery efforts would restore the damaged infrastructure and even surpass previous standards. He also indicated that his visit was intended to encourage other business leaders and philanthropists within the Indian business community in Sierra Leone to contribute toward rebuilding efforts.
He further assured the Deputy Director General and staff of his solidarity, urging them to remain steadfast during this challenging period.
Receiving the delegation, SLBC Director General Josephine Fatmata Kamara expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that the institution was already undergoing a facelift when the fire occurred, making the incident a significant setback to ongoing reforms and upgrades.
She called for continued support from individuals, businesses, and development partners to help restore the damaged facilities and strengthen the national broadcaster.
Deputy Director General Mohamed Asmieu Bah also thanked Pa Jeety and his team for their visit and support, while echoing calls for additional assistance from philanthropists and corporate partners.
The fire, which broke out on Wednesday 8th April 2026 at about 11:30am, was contained through the swift response of staff and emergency services, preventing what officials described as a potentially more devastating loss.
