The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has reaffirmed the Government of Sierra Leone’s commitment to constitutional governance, stressing that no external pressure will influence decisions deemed unlawful.
Speaking to newsmen, Bah pushed back against claims circulating among opposition supporters regarding alleged recommendations by international moral guarantors to alter the leadership of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL).
He clarified that the guarantors made no such call, emphasising that Edmond Sylvester Alpha remains the duly appointed Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman of the ECSL.
According to the Minister, the government’s priority is to uphold the rule of law while pursuing reforms through legitimate and constitutional channels. He maintained that any decisions concerning key state institutions will be guided strictly by legal frameworks rather than political pressure or speculation.
Bah’s remarks come amid ongoing national discussions on electoral reforms and institutional stability, as stakeholders continue to engage on strengthening public confidence in the democratic process in Sierra Leone.
