The opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has officially confirmed its return to governance, bringing an end to its earlier boycott of state processes following recent engagements with international moral guarantors.
The announcement signals a major shift in the country’s political landscape, as the party re-engages with national institutions after months of limited participation. APC officials say the decision follows what they describe as significant gains achieved during dialogue with international partners aimed at resolving key political concerns.
Speaking to newsmen, APC Member of Parliament Hon. Aminata Sesay stated that the party is satisfied with the progress made through the engagement process, noting that the outcomes have created a basis for renewed participation in governance.
“Our return reflects the progress achieved and our commitment to continue serving the people through the appropriate national platforms,” she indicated.
The development has also been welcomed by the Minister of Information and Civic Education, ChernorBah, who acknowledged the positive impact of the ongoing dialogue process. He described the APC’s decision as an important step toward strengthening cooperation among political actors and advancing national stability in Sierra Leone.
In a further indication of the party’s renewed engagement, APC official Ibrahim Barrie disclosed that the party will soon issue a formal press release instructing all its elected representatives who had withdrawn from governance activities to return and fully resume their duties.
Political observers say the APC’s move is a significant milestone in the implementation of outcomes from the moral guarantors process, which has sought to address tensions and build consensus between the Government and opposition.
