Sierra Leone’s President H.E. Julius Maada Bio today became the first African Head of State to kick-start UNSTOPPABLE AFRICA 2026 in New York.
In a powerful fireside chat, President Bio called for a fundamental shift in Africa’s future:
“Africa must move beyond extraction and export of raw materials. We must PROCESS and TRANSFORM our minerals in Africa.”
He said Africa’s vast mineral wealth must drive industrialization, stronger economies, jobs for our youth, and value addition at home.
The President also stressed that infrastructure investment is key to unlocking Africa’s full potential.
The high-level event, themed “Powering Business, Scaling Economies, Shaping the Future”, brought together UN Secretary-General António Guterres, AU Commission Chair Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, former African Presidents, top business leaders and financial institutions.
