Regional Operations Officer, Western Area Superintendent Musa Bandabla said the process was well executed and that the occupants themselves were conveying their belongings out of the premises as they were instructed, and all of a sudden, a boy attempted snatching a gun from a police officer and that the said officer had to act in self-defense to protect himself.

“the process was going on well for over three hours and the officers were just manning and ensure it all went well, and a boy came from the back of one the police officer and try to disarm the gun from the officer and the officer had to hit him with the back side of the gun to ensure the boy did not take the gun from him.” Superintendent Musa Bandabla ascertained.

He further confirmed that it was area boys from the neighborhood that wanted to obstruct the eviction exercise, as he also confirmed that the former occupants were cooperating with the police and the court order owing to the fact that they were aware of the verdict that warrant the eviction process.

A former resident, Adekalie Sesay explained that they had received a letter on the seventh of March, from the Jabbie Associate informing them that their client had won the case and that on that note he described that they had to organize a peaceful demonstration just to capture the attention of the appropriate authorities including the president with regards the issue.

Adekalie maintained that they had just paid their rent one week ago, he stated the period of notice was too short as he had dwelled in the aforementioned house for a long period and that some people had also  lived in the now demolished houses for  more than three decades. He further pointed out that they are seeking justice from the relevant authorities stating that the notice was too immediate.
